Responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing new fiber distribution and fiber connectivity solutions to support Client fiber business growth.  Working within a stage-gate project management environment the product development engineer typically performs the following activities:  product concept generation, engineering calculations, cost reductions, quality improvements, complaint investigations, CAD model development, tolerance studies, product performance testing, authoring technical documentation, control drawing creation, maintaining accurate project records, project schedule generation, and project management.
Required:

 

• BSME with 3+ years of new product development experience.
• Plastic part and sheet metal design experience preferred.
• Fiber optic connectivity solution design experience is a plus, but is not required.
• Excellent 3D CAD solid modeling skills. 
• Strong creativity and problem solving skills.
• Excellent project planning and project management skills with a proven ability to consistently meet project milestone target dates.
• Must be able to effectively apply engineering principles and perform engineering calculations.
• Experience performing tolerance analysis studies and creating engineering control drawings
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups (Product Management, Manufacturing, and Quality, suppliers) to resolve product-related customer and production issues.
• Organize and maintain accurate project records.
• Ability to use computer software such as MS Word, Excel, and MS Project.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Team oriented.
