The Application System Programmer is responsible for providing advanced computer systems support to the Patient Safety and Quality Services (Patient Safety/Quality Improvement/Infection Control/Regulatory Affiars). The Programmer analyst has primary responsibility for developing and maintaining the web based data tools for these departments. In addition, the analyst will have primary responsibility for understanding and accessing the information contained in the multiple data bases used by these departments (eg TSI, Omniview, Pace, MSO, PICIS, Lab and Pathology, Softmed). Other responsibilities include development of tools and processes to ensure data quality, end user support, liaison to the medical center information technology department, training and coordination, data management, and project coordination. Given the range of responsibilities, this is a senior level position drawing on experience in software development, data flow analysis, and project management. The successful analyst will function as a skilled observer of the organizations information needs, suggest alternative approaches for meeting these needs, and develop tools to provide information in the specified format.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Creates, documents, implements web based solutions for data acquisition, analysis and report writing for Patient Safety & Quality Services. Works with teams to identify and build the most appropriate platform for storage and retrieval of information. Creates ad hoc and production reports in response to the services directors, managers and staff requests. Provides educational materials to assist other members of the staff in accessing the information in the database.
- Assist in the development of tools and processes to ensure data quality (documentation of programming, process maps, validity checks). Ensure information technology standards are met for all department technology resources. Coordinates and documents application upgrades, performs system testing and regularly reviews error reports to enhance data integrity and quality.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Database programming experience using SQL Server 2005 & 2008
Programming experience using Microsoft Technologies such as Classic ASP, ASP .net, C#, AJAX & JavaScript.
Five +years experience as a database administration, systems analysis, and/or IT project management. Needs to be a self motivated leader who can work independently with minimum supervision.
Familiarity with clinical information systems.
Bachelors degree in information systems management or commensurate experience.
Knowledge of medical center operations.
Ability to work effective wit ha diverse group of customers and colleagues
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills a team player.
The ability to translate operational needs into technical specifications. Ability to translate technical jargon into common language.
Organized, tactful, professional person who can mange conflict
Strong MS SQL Server, Access and excel skill and web design
Ability to facilitate meetings, make presentations, conduct group training sessions.
