The Simons Foundation in New York City is seeking a Web Developer to fill a Full time position in its informatics group.

This role will support the creation and maintenance of several websites hosting editorially independent online publications covering research in autism, data and life sciences, mathematics and physics, as well as sites providing information about the foundation's support of basic and applied research.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support Back End WordPress development for a diverse collection of foundation-affiliated websites
• Create robust web templates and plugins utilizing the latest WordPress features
• Work collaboratively and closely with editors, Front End designers, web producers and other developers
• Effectively manage priorities for multiple, concurrent projects

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

• Expert-level website development in WordPress, PHP and MySQL
• Deep understanding of HTML and CSS
• Experience with JavaScript and jQuery
• Experience with responsive web design, integration testing and usability testing
• Experience with high volume websites
• Proficient in version control tools such as Git and SVN
• Portfolio of work that functions well on multiple device types
• Excellent communication skills
